A Missionary’s Prayer

Filed under: Life as I know it,Philosophy,Poems — Celia Rexselin @ 4:20 am

I was listening to a song sung by Paul Thangaiah’s. Was really moved by it and thought will post it here. This song is a tribute to those missionaries who spread good news and love.

Tamil Version

En dhevanae en indha vedhanai

Azhugaiyin paadhaiyil sella

En ennai anumadhitheer

Udaintha ullathai ariveer allo

Ullathin baarathai kandeer allo

Annalin kannerai kanda thevan

Endhan kaneerai thudaitharulum

Ooliya paadhaiyil vedhanaigal

Udaintha paathiram naan allo

Odi odi uzhaithumae

Vedhanai keepaar yaarum illai.

Umakaaga jeevika therindhedutheer

Santhoshamaga erru kanden

Sodhanai vedhanai thaangiduven

Ellam endhan yesuvirkae

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

My God! Why is there so much suffering.

Why did you let me walk in the path of tears?

Don’t you know my broken heart?

You have really seen my heavy heart.

You are the God who saw Hanna’s tears

Please wipe out my tears

Suffering in the path of ministry

Am I not the broken vessel now?

After running and running around

There is no one to listen to my suffering.

You chose me to live for you

Happily I accepted

Will bear all suffering and trials

All for your sake!

If you would notice, though the missionary laments about his situation, he still accepts his call. The call for the day is not to spread religious sentiments. But to spread good news and love for those yearning for it. Do you know what the good news is?

GOD LOVES YOU!

Andrea Bocelli – Let this be our prayer

Filed under: Poems — Celia Rexselin @ 5:27 pm

Was listening to this great piece of lyrics and felt like sharing it. This has bi-lingual content. I am not sure whether the english part is just the translation of it.. but it makes it sound all the more good. My favorite part has been bolded 🙂

I pray you’ll be our eyes, and watch us where we go.
And help us to be wise in times when we don’t know
Let this be our prayer, when we lose our way
Lead us to the place, guide us with your grace
To a place where we’ll be safe

La luce che tu hai
I pray we’ll find your light
nel cuore restera
and hold it in our hearts.
a ricordarci che
When stars go out each night,
eterna stella sei

The light you have
I pray we’ll find your light
will be in the heart
and hold it in our hearts.
to remember us that
When stars go out each night,
you are eternal star
Nella mia preghiera
Let this be our prayer
quanta fede c’e
when shadows fill our day

How much faith there’s
Let this be our prayer
in my prayer
when shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we’ll be safe

Sognamo un mondo senza piu violenza
un mondo di giustizia e di speranza
Ognuno dia la mano al suo vicino
Simbolo di pace, di fraternita

We dream a world without violence
a world of justice and faith.
Everyone gives the hand to his neighbours
Symbol of peace, of fraternity
La forza che ci da
We ask that life be kind
e il desiderio che
and watch us from above
ognuno trovi amor
We hope each soul will find
intorno e dentro se
another soul to love

The force his gives us
We ask that life be kind
is wish that
and watch us from above
everyone finds love
We hope each soul will find
around and inside
another soul to love
Let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer, just like every child

Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we’ll be safe
Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we’ll be safe

E la fede che
hai acceso in noi,
sento che ci salvera

It’s the faith
you light in us
I feel it will save us

Remembering Maundy Thursday…

Thoobam polen jebam
undhan paadham sera vendum;
Nesa Thandhaai undhan
arul ennai sera vendum;

Translated:
Like this incense I offer, my prayer
should reach your feet;
Loving father, your grace
should reach me;

Its one of those days when one prays solemnly.. hallelujah is rarely mentioned in the songs;

This day, Maundy thursday is observed by Christians in remembrance of Lord Jesus. Great incidents happened on this date; Lessons were learnt; If you are one of those who is wondering what this day means, here it is for the record..

1) Its the day of Jesus’s last supper. It was at this date, Judas, his disciple, his treasurer betrayed him for 30 silvers.
2) It was at this date, Jesus taught his disciples a very valuable lesson. That, whoever wants to be a master, should be a servant first. Jesus demonstrated this by washing the feet of his twelve disciples and wiping it with his hand towel.
3) This is the day when all of his disciples and friends forsake him; leaving him alone.
4) This is the day when he was crowned with thorns and beaten up!!

Maundy Thursday: Maundy is taken from the latin word `mandatum’ referring to Christ’s commandment concerning foot-washing;

Adhi Mangala Kaaranane!!

Filed under: Poems — Celia Rexselin @ 11:53 am

How does it feel when you find out that you are actually a novice in a language in which you thought yourself as a expert?

I happened to listen to this traditional christian keerthanai… Mystic words.. in each and every word lies a thousand hidden meanings.. Asked the meaning to my mom. She herself didnt know the meaning to a few of the words. I have attempted to translate it. Lemme know if the translation is good.
