Moonu ela vidala …

Filed under: Just For Laughs — Celia Rexselin @ 8:45 am

I know that I have not been updating this blog as regularly as before.. Work has finally caught me up and am not getting as much free time 😦 .. Hope to get more time in the future-!!

Last weekend, I had to leave town due to personal reasons and was traveling in an express. Our compartment had a young father, his 2-3 yr. old kid and a couple (probably college students) besides us. Though we didn’t interact much, the kid did light up the whole scene with its innocent talk. Before I get into what actually happened, I think I will need to give a small description about each of these people so that you are better acquainted.

The kid : a girl, was wearing a yellow frock and had a curious look written all over her face. Was nagging her dad for almost all kind of food items that came by our area. Was delighted to see that a food tray can be attached to the back of a seat and was thinking aloud, “Naan idhula ellaam saapiduven, thayir saadham saapiduven, lays saapiduven etc etc”.

Dad: a shrewd father indeed. Whenever a food item passed by and the girl asked, he pacified her saying that ‘lays varumaa vaangi tharen‘. Lays never came thanks to the crowd.

Guy: Metrosexual? Was wearing a ring on his little finger.. had styled his hair to have spiked and was trying to read a satayajit ray short stories. Occasionally, he popped his head and did bandha towards his —- (reason for dash will be told). Actions like winking, calling her ‘Oey’, showing his anger towards the undisciplined crowd that stood all over (anniyan ambikku thambiyaa irupaarnu nenaikiren).

Girl: Must have borrowed one of Namitha’s shirts or from her next door kinder garden kid.. Had dyed her hair in portions and I was not sure whether it was really a dye or whether its hair graying. A low waisted jeans that looked cool along with a leather bag. She had left her hair loose… The hair clip that she had brought was clipping her bag instead.

—- : They really did seem like lovers (coz of the actions like winking, bandha).. But, their eating habits seemed a lil bit surprising. The guy ordered separately and was eating all the time. The girl ordered separately and had just one coffee. Usuallaa namba ooru guys, ponnoda rendu-vitta periyappaa payyanukku kooda vaangi tharuvaanga!!

Enough of description.. Now the dialogue:. This actually happened between the toddler (evlo vayasu varaikkum toddler sollalaam) and the guy as they were sitting next to each other. The girl had gone to attend nature’s call leaving the bag with the guy and the toddler saw that girl that time. The toddler’s voice was loud and hence I was able to hear that alone.. Didn’t feel like eavesdropping on the guy. (Naan romba nalla ponnu paarunga).

Toddler: Uncle, uncle.. unga mobilea games irukkaa?
Uncle: dash
Toddler: en peru …. Unga peru enna uncle?
Uncle: dash
Toddler: unga kitta bag vechukittu ponaangale, avanga peru enna?
Uncle: dash
Toddler: avanga aanaa, illa ponnaa? (kuttimaa! nee eppovaadhu nayagan padam paathu irukka?)
Uncle: dash
Toddler: Ohhhh!! avanga enna unga girl friend aa (samathu di chellam)
Uncle: !!!!
Toddler: Naan, girl friendnnu nenachen.. neenga mobilela games vechu irukeengala?
