That six letter word!!

Filed under: When I get wild — Celia @ 3:13 pm

Had been to my native town last week. Though a short trip, it was quite a revelation and taught several lessons to me. One single post won’t be able to cover it all. I plan to reveal one lesson at a time. Lets see.

Lesson #1:
Never tell your exact salary to anyone.
(Ofcourse, your immediate kin, insurance agent and future company are exempted).

Is it a rule for the relatives or known persons to ask the salary of a known one? Ponnu kitta vayasayum payyan kitta salaryum kekka koodadhunu solluvaanga. Ini rendu peru kittayum rendayumae kekka venaaamnu yaaravadhu rule podunga paa.

After quite a few enquiries about well-being, the one question asked was this. Lets take that my salary is x. Sonnadhukappuram thulaichu eduthutaanga.

Bandha Periyammaa: (Salary told: x)

Kochammaa, I know that 1 rupee = 1 lakh for you. I also know that you consider all your sons as major investment and thats why you took 15 lakhs dowry and 100 soverigns of gold. But don’t expect everyone else to be in the same cadre as you.

Ofcourse, my salary is far less than your expectation. But I am happy with my salary. I am able to satisfy my parents, myself and have some savings too. I doubt whether you are happy.

Setup Chithappa: (Salary told: x)
Sollaadha varaikkum oru prechanaiyum illa. Sonnadhuku appurom, en chithappa un relativesoda alliance pottu mudichiralaaamnu nenaikira?

Vaai pilandha athai: (salary told: 15k)

Naan salary vaanguradhu unakku veedu kattiΒ  thara illai athai. Naan veen selavu panni jambamum pannalai. IT engineers naa paavom panni sambathikiravanga illa. Engalukkum veralukku etha selavu undu. Nambunga.

Kitta varaadha Periya anna: (10 k)

Am still the same anna. It doesn’t mean that you have to look at me in a distance and speak in ‘vaanga’ ‘ponga’ range.

Auto driver:

My head writing!! why should I take an auto which has a vaayaadi auto driver. Drivernngnaa, vandiya eduthamaa drop pannamaa nu irunga. Personal questions kekaadheeenga.

Paati selling peanuts: (Salary told: 5k)

I really didn’t mean to tell a lie. But her downcast nature and my previous experience made me tell this. But she did surprise me with her answer.

“What? You get only this much? Do you know how much I make in a day?”

“No, paati”.

” Rs: 200. This itself amounts to 6k. Not only that, I am planning to open a idly kadai also soon.”

For some reason, she seemed to be happy after that. I don’t know whether it was because of this. Anyway, moral of the story: salary podum podhu alandhu poduraangalo illayo, neenga adhu sollum podhu alandhu vidunga πŸ˜‰

  5. yup!.. telling salary is okey! but listening to tants and comments is the most irritating parts at that point of time… but in future reminding these things would be nice funny incidents..
