<p>Sleep well. Bask in the coolness of this night bright with diamonds. Sleep well, for the heat of anger simmers nearby. Enjoy the silence of the crib, for the noise of confusion rumbles in your future. Savor the sweet safety of my arms, for a day is soon coming when I cannot protect you.</p>
<p>Rest well, tiny hands. For though you belong to a king, you will touch no satin, own no gold. You will grasp no pen, guide no brush. No, your tiny hands are reserved for works more precious:<br />
to touch a leper’s open wound,<br />
to wipe a widow’s weary tear,<br />
to claw the ground of Gethsemane.</p>
<p>Your hands, so tiny, so tender, so white—clutched tonight in an infant’s fist. They aren’t destined to hold a scepter nor wave from a palace balcony. They are reserved instead for a Roman spike that will staple them to a Roman cross.</p>

So often, we rely on our own understanding and think that this is how our future is going to be. Not just that, but we often try to get love and strength from humans and get hurt in the process. If only we could turn to God, he will hold us close, every minute, every second and be with us in every step we take.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p> Blessed Assurance&#8221; was composed by two of the most prolific Christian hymn writers in history. The lyrics come from a woman with over 8000 hymns to her credit and the music comes from the organ of a lady with over 500 hymns to her credit. One day, Fanny Crosby was visiting her dear friend, Phoebe Knapp. She played a tune for Fanny and asked her afterwards, &#8220;What does it say to you, Fanny?&#8221; Her reply was simple: &#8220;Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine.&#8221;  This hymn is still being played on the church organ in thousands of churches still today.</p>
<p align="left">     Despite being blind, Fanny Crosby’s impact on Christian hymns was tremendous.  She once described how her blindness affected her songs. &#8220;I verily believe that God intended that I should live my days in physical darkness so that I might be better prepared to sing His praise and lead others from spiritual darkness into eternal light.  With sight I would have been too distracted to have written thousands of hymns.&#8221; Without Fanny’s faith and Phoebe’s organ, songs such as &#8220;Blessed Assurance&#8221; would have never been written.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This hymn was written after several traumatic events in Spafford’s life. The first was the death of his only son in 1871 at the age of four, shortly followed by <a title="1871 Great Chicago Fire" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1871_Great_Chicago_Fire">the great Chicago Fire</a> which ruined him financially (he had been a successful <a title="Lawyer" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawyer">lawyer</a>). Then in 1873, he had planned to travel to Europe with his family on the <em><a title="SS Ville du Havre" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Ville_du_Havre">SS Ville du Havre</a></em>, but sent the family ahead while he was delayed on business concerning zoning problems following the Great Chicago Fire. While crossing the <a title="Atlantic Ocean" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_Ocean">Atlantic</a>, the ship sank rapidly after a collision with a sailing ship, the <a title="Loch Line" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loch_Line">Loch Earn</a>, and all four of Spafford&#8217;s daughters died. His wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, &#8220;Saved alone.&#8221; Shortly afterwards, as Spafford traveled to meet his grieving wife, he was inspired to write these words as his ship passed near where his daughters had died &#8211; Source (wiki)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This month has been the most satisfying month of the year. I kept pushing myself to do things which I thought I cannot do. Yet, When I attempted to do it, things got done automatically.</p>
<p>I wouldnt say that it was all easy. For instance, one of my goals for the month was to go for a training &amp; plan for certification. I had to sacrifice three consecutive weekends just to make this happen. The only time, I was not looking at the system was when I was sleeping. Yet, now that I have completed the training and cleared the exam, I feel like I have accomplished something major.</p>
<p>Lesson for the month is: Take risks whenever you can. Put your 100% effort. I would say that you have a 80% chance of completing it. Remaining 20% I would give to unrealistic risks. Risks like thinking of getting married to Deepika Padukone. Those dont stand a chance unless you are multi-crorepathi&#8217;s son.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The past few months have been really rough. Was immersed in work and had to leave late quite frequently.</p>
<p>Earlier, when I used to reach home on time, I used to go lift my two year old son, cradle him in my arms and go gaga over him. Used to pet him with sweet nothings like “My darling, my pet, my sweetie” etc etc.</p>
<p>But haven’t been able to do that lately.</p>
<p>Yesterday was one such day, when I stayed back for a meeting. When I reached home, it was 9:30 PM. As I was walking on the lane towards my house, I noticed that my son was also standing by the compound gate.</p>
<p>I can’t explain the expression I saw on his face. He screamed “Mummy has come” to household and stretched out his tiny arms so that I can go and embrace him. As I embraced him, he said something which I will remember for the rest of my life. He regarded me fondly, rubbed his cheeks against me and said, “My darling!”.</p>

<p>Irish born <strong>Joseph M. Scriven</strong> (1819-1896) was 25 years old, in love and to be married.</p>
<p>The day before his wedding his fiancé died in a tragic drowning accident. Heartbroken, Joseph sailed from his homeland to start a new life in Canada. While in Canada working as a teacher, he fell in love again and became engaged to Eliza Roche, a relative of one of his students.</p>
<p>Once again, Joseph&#8217;s hopes and dreams were shattered when Eliza became ill and died before the wedding could take place.</p>
<p>Although one can only imagine the turmoil within this young man, history tells us that his faith in God sustained him.</p>
<p>Soon after Eliza&#8217;s death Joseph joined the Plymouth Brethren and began preaching for a Baptist church. He never married, but spent the remainder of his life giving all his time, money and even the clothes off his own back to help the less fortunate and to spread the love and compassion of Jesus wherever he went.</p>
<p>Around the same time that Eliza died, Joseph received word from Ireland that his mother was ill. He could not go to be with her, so he wrote a letter of comfort and enclosed one of his poems entitled <strong>What a Friend We Have in Jesus.</strong></p>

<p>Many years later a friend was sitting with Joseph, as he was very ill. During this visit, the friend was very impressed when he ran across his poems, including What a Friend We Have in Jesus.</p>
<p>As a result of this visit, almost 30 years after his letter of comfort to his mother, Joseph&#8217;s poems were published in a book called <strong>Hymns and Other Verses.</strong> Soon thereafter, noted musician Charles C. Converse (1834-1918) put music to one of those poems: What a Friend We Have in Jesus.</p>
<p>Well-known musician and revivalist Ira D. Sankey (1840-1908) was a great admirer of Joseph Scriven. In 1875, Sankey came upon the music and words for What a Friend We Have in Jesus. He included it as the last entry into his well-known publication Sankey&#8217;s Gospel Hymns Number 1.<br />

<p>After Joseph Scriven&#8217;s death, the citizens of Port Hope, Ontario, Canada, where he gave so much of himself, erected a monument to his life.</p>
<p><strong>The seemingly sad and obscure life of one man resulted in so many lives being uplifted, both in his own time, and for many years after whenever the beautiful and comforting words of What a Friend We Have in Jesus are sung.</strong></p>

<p>What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!<br />
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!<br />
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,<br />
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.</p>
<p>Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?<br />
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.<br />
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?<br />
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.</p>
<p>Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?<br />
Precious Saviour, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.<br />
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!<br />
In His arms He&#8217;ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.</p>
<p>Blessed Saviour, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear<br />
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.<br />
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer<br />
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.</p>
